1st robin

I saw my first robin this morning which can only mean, spring is not too far off. I can only hope. I have so wanted to open the windows and let the fresh air in. I can't even today with the wind like it is. It feels like it's 30. I would be put out for sure! LOL

I went to a local yarn shop this morning. I was suppose to be going to the liquor store for wine for the shrimp scampi I'm making but they didn't open until noon. There was a class going on. A woman asked me if I was looking for anything in particular and I told her it was my first time there and wanted to look around. She said that was fine and to sign up for email notification for classes if I wanted to. I did. :o) Another woman came up to me and said that she was learning to knit continental style and proceeded to show me a little of what it entailed. Very interesting! She had the knitting down but, not the purling. I told her I had tried to learn from the internet but, without much luck. I am the kind of person who learns better by someone sitting next to me and showing me how to do it. It looks like it would be a lot faster than normal knitting. You hold the yarn in the left hand and you don't throw the yarn. You just go from front to back of the needle. It looks so much easier. From what I can tell, the ladies are very friendly there. Their yarn is a better yarn and a bit on the expensive side. They are not all hanks (I think that's what you call them) but the majority of what they carry is and I would have to invest in a ball winder. The one woman was using one while I was there. Very interesting again! Now of course, as any of you know, I couldn't very well leave without buying ANYTHING. So, I bought a circular needle size 11. It's an addi Turbo. Made in Germany. I don't know when I'll use it but, it's here anyway. lol

I did get to the liquor store and I did get a couple of grinders for lunch. We will do the scampi tonight. That was my journey for this morning. I still have a JoAnns coupon and gift certificate to use and will have no problem using that. lol

Time for lunch!

Happy Sunday!

Until next time...

That yarn shop sounds like my kind of place. I can't knit but want to earn so badly and I , like you do better with someone sitting next to me showing me how, than trying to follow it from a book or video.

Hope you have a wonderful dinner with your family.

*hugs*

Sounds nice to have someone show you. I kknow I learn better that way too. I did not get yarn today but my edgerydoo came in and I did order four movies. I will be getting some fleece next month but want to work on hats this month.

It's so nice when you meet other crafters - especially when they are helpful and kind. Sounds like you made a good find. I've never used a hank of yarn before but have seen them at one shop I went to.
