Sgt Jessica update..

I received and email from my friend Millie last night and here is part of what she wrote:

As I was leaving someone told me have you seen Sgt. Castro? She's back. I turned around and she was standing before my very eyes. She looks so beautiful, although she has a limp. They told her I was the lady who brought her the prayer shawl. She hugged me and gave me a smile that I'll remember till the day I die. She lost hearing in one ear and is losing sight in one eye. In addition, she has schrapnel in her left shoulder and right leg. They don't want to operate but she's taking therapy.

She told me how she can't sleep at night because she's still in trauma. She finally got your prayer shawl on Sunday. That night (2 nights ago) she read your prayer and took the shawl and placed it on her pillow. It was so soft and soothing that she immediately fell alseep; and slept peacefully through the night. She did it again last night. She's beginning to feel better because she's getting much needed rest. I told her about you and how we've 'met' and she's fascinated.

This is the Sgt Jessica I made the shawl for. We never know the true impact of what we do to help others. I am so happy the shawl is helping her get some much needed rest.

Those of us that do charity work, do it because we love to, we don't expect the thank yous but, it's sure nice knowing that there are people out there that appreciate what we do.

Here is a pic of the shawl I sent to her:

This is part of the message that started everything for Sgt Jessica...

Yesterday, our Sgt. Castro from my church came to visit. She was in an ambush in Iraq in Nov. 2006 and God spared her life. She now has shrapnel in both legs and limps; she lost hearing in her left ear, and both arms were also hit; one arm is still in a sling requiring 2 more surgeries. Then extensive rehab. And she's only 26 years old. Shetold us she doesn't feel bad about her physical injuries; she's sorry about the 8 people who died that day. Please, let's pray for thisyoung lady whose a single mom of a 2 year old.

I guess that's all for now. I just wanted to share this.

Until next time...
Bunny

What a beautiful shawl Bunny. I know that when she wears it she can feel the love and prayers that are pouring out to her. You are yet another wonderful woman that is helping out others in need. You have your wings my dear. :) *hugs*
